The Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a book about a group of boys whos plane crashes into the sea. After the plane crash the boys find them selves stranded on an island with no adults... and no rules. Ralph and Jack are the two boys who try to lead the group. Ralph is ultimately voted cheif but Jack is still on his quest for power. The boys are smart and build signal fires for planes and boats. The boys also set up a form of order using a shell to detrimine who can talk. They have hinters for food and it seems as though that they will be fine. But one day Jack takes his group of boys to go and hunt instead of tending to the fire. The fire goes out and a plane passes by and does not see them. This makes Ralph furious and he goes into an outrage. But they did kill a pig so Ralph could not be too sad for too long. But this act of anger towards Jack angers him. Since the begging of the book there was a supposed beast the roams aroud the island. One fateful night when the boys were having a party they mistaked Simon, another boy, for the beast and kill him. This is a tragic part of the book. On jacks quest for power he gets a large group of the big boys and forms his own group. His tribe raids Ralph and steals Piggys glasses. Piggy is a loyal follower and good friend of Ralph's. Piggys glasses are the only source of fire on the island. Ralph and Piggy go to Jacks camp to try to reason with them. When talking Piggy is killed by Roger and the shell is destroyed. This represents the boys fall to savagery as they are now willing to kill. The boys are then recused shortly after.

What I'm up to.

This week has been a fun one. On monday I got to miss half of the day because of an orthodontist appointment which is great. Tuesday was great. In art I was able to throw three pots! Wednasday was good and went by super fast. Also on monday the Warren County Fair started. So my family and I went to it. I had a great time hanging out with friends and riding rides. Thursday will be cool because we are going again. There is gonna be live music and it will be great. Friday is a Parents Day so we only have school until twelve. Then it is to the fair I go. After that I'm going to the fair and spending the night at my friends Brads house. Thats gonna be fun. We are gonna go skateboarding behind the golf cart, golf, and swim if its warm enough. Its football season and my teams are doing good. Texas A&M are undefeated and so is BYU. We've lost one I think but the Webb football season is looking like its gonna be a good one. Thats all for now.

In this quote its Ralph pacing back and forth on the sand. ralph is doing this so he can think and it is one of the only places on the island where he can not watch his feet. We can assume he is always watching his feet so he does not step on a snake or in quicksand. The quote talks about him always trying to improvise. He has to do that because everyone is looking up to him and that is a lot of pressure and with everyone asking you questions all the time you have to improvise or you would spend all your time answering questions. This is why h is so tired because when he is not answering people he is always building or fixing things. This is the only time that he can forget about looking down and improvising and actually think and answer the problem at hand. This is important because he realizes how trying this job really is and how he always has to look at his feet in a figurative way. I think that the figurative way is him always looking down at his feet so he does not make and mistake that can effect the entire group.
Discuss the change in power in the book.

The title of leader in the group belongs to Ralph because he was voted by all the boys to be there leader in the beginning of the book. The littleluns still listen to him and so does Piggy. But for the other boys I believe the allegiance has changed. I think this because Roger is defiantly a follower of Jack. But for Sam, Eric, and Bill they are not fully with him. I think that they are beginning to because they all hunted the pig with him when Ralph ordered them to keep the fire going. I think Roger is fully dedicated to Jack because he was a choir boy and Jack was the leader of the choir boys. He also is evil just like Jack and he responds to Jacks call and not to Ralphs. I think the two groups of boys are going to fight and be fighting for power. Roger does not care about the feelings of the littleluns of the leadership of Ralph. Neither does Jack and this will contribute to there possible revolt against Ralph. None of them like Piggy but I do think Ralph will protect him.

Dear Auntie,

This island is horrible. I'm always hungry and thirsty. The boys here are always making fun of me for my weight and asthma. I wanna go back home to wear I have a house and a bed and food is always on the table and people don't make fun of me for everything I do. The island is kinda cool though. The water is always warm and it looks really cool. It's just that people I'm with that make it horrible and the fact that there is no food. I found a conch the other day. I can't blow it because I'm following your direction. I wish it was you and me here and we were staying in a super cool hotel. Ralph can be cool sometimes. He is the nicest to me except for the young ones. Jack doesn't like me one bit and I hate him. He is always telling me to shut up and stuff and I don't like it. Jack broke my specs and now I can't see out of one eye which is bad when your trying to survive on an island. But Jack did kill a pig so I got some actual food in my stomach
